Each year 6% of profits from Sarah Clarke Celebrates go directly to my charity partner Tender, and the hugely important work they do to help promote healthy relationships and end abuse.
As a celebrant it’s my privilege and honour to celebrate people on important, life-affirming milestones in their lives. We can only reach those happy milestones - weddings, naming ceremonies - if we have the right foundations. I love that Tender are taking the time and care to help young people build those healthy foundations.
If you’re a parent or teacher - and don’t already know of Tender as a helpful resource - you may have seen the charity pop up in your feeds; they recently hosted a special screening of new Netflix drama Adolescence with co-creator Stephen Graham talking about online misogyny and “its dangerous impact on young people today”.
Tender has been engaging young people in healthy relationships education since 2003, with their expertise informing the 2020 curriculum for Relationships, Sex and Health Education. They work with primary, secondary and specialist schools and youth settings, delivering a range of workshops and programmes.
Their engaging, drama-based sessions empower students with the skills and confidence to build positive, respectful relationships with others, and to consider their attitudes and behaviour in a safe, age appropriate way. During their workshops, young people will:
Identify key elements of healthy and unhealthy relationships
Recognise early warning signs of unhealthy relationships
Explore the importance of equality and respect
Understand personal boundaries and consent
Increase self-confidence and empathy for others
Develop awareness of where to seek or signpost support.
