Alice + Amber | October 2024

You really have a heart of gold and it was the most perfect day

Now I know I probably shouldn’t have favourites in this job, but to hell with it…I’m a wedding celebrant not a nursery teacher. And Alice and Amber are one of my favourite couples EVER.

When I first met them in a coffee shop I wasn’t just meeting an engaged couple, I was meeting two Swifties high on the fumes of the Eras tour they had just returned from a couple of nights before. We talked non-stop about Taylor and weddings - barely taking a breath between the three of us - and it was Girlhood™. And it was delicious.

Though we adore men individually, we agree that as a group they’re rather…less invested in giggling about weddings.

One thing I love about this pair is they both wear their hearts on their sleeves, and never shy away from saying all the things they adore about each other. Not only did I have buckets of content to put in their wedding script but I had stories to spare. And they wrote gorgeous, long vows with more. They were overflowing with love and - on their wedding day - we could all feel it.

It was so exciting for me to arrive at Newton Hall - I’m a sucker for a first-look at a bride in a bridal gown and I got to see two. And two sets of teary-eyed bridesmaids and parents.

Newton Hall blew me away too - she was the third main character. I mean - have you ever been to a wedding with a waterfall at the top of the aisle, framed by a portrait window? Stunning. There was a blackbird having a morning bath in the waterfall when I arrived and it was definitely a pinch-me moment for the places I get to call “the office”.

Reader, I gasped

Amber walked down the aisle first (to Taylor Swift’s You are in Love) and then peered round excitedly to watch for her girl (who walked down to Taylor Swift’s Daylight). The room was absolutely charged with excitement, with the guests all giddy as kippers too. It was such a supportive room of loved ones who really get their relationship - especially a reading from two friends who had artfully shoe-horned dozens of Swift song titles into what they’d written about this…enchanted, fearless…couple.

I’m sure you won’t have much trouble believing me when I say - we all cried. I try not to cry too much at the front - after all it is literally my job to hold it together haha - but I definitely welled up.

🎵I cry a lot but I am so productive, it's an art! 🎵

Powerhouse Taylor can hold it together with a broken heart…and I just about managed it too, feeling soppy and just cheering with every bone in my body for a love like this.

...so grateful for you every step of the way - from making us feel so comfortable from [when] we met, to spending so much time talking to our friends and family yesterday...
